Deacons

Meet the church deacons. Top left is Vincente Huerta. Top right is Dan Thomas. Front left is Gene Clouse, and to his left is Dave Scheibeck.

These men are charged with the responsibility of making things happen around the church. They carry out the wishes of the elders and do the daily work. They can and will do everything from teach classes to mow the lawn. They are leaders in the church and are ready and willing to help with any project. The following are some short biographies of each man.


Vincente Huerta was born at Fort Sam Houston, Texas and grew up in Tacoma Washington. He met his wife, Leticia while attending Henry Foss High School where they began dating in 1990. They were married on September 25, 1993 and now have 2 children Dante and Monte. After graduating high school, Vincente attended Tacoma Community College and South Puget Sound Community College. He has worked in retail for over 20 years. He has completed Retail Leadership Development courses and currently works as a supervisor for a large national chain. Vincente was baptized on January 17, 1993 by Bro. Ken Black. He attended the Basics of Christian Counseling class instructed by Ken Wilson at Sunset International Bible Institute in September 2004. Vincente was installed as a deacon on September 26, 2004.


Gene Clouse is married to Charlotte Clouse from Memphis TN. They met at Christian Student Center sponsored by Highland Street Church of Christ when both were attending school at Memphis State University.They have four children Chiron, Daniel, Andrew and Robert. Chiron attended Lipscomb University and graduated from Washington State University in Pullman, WA. Daniel graduated from Lipscomb University in Nashville TN. Andrew Clouse is currently enrolled at Cascade College in Portland, Oregon and has a 4.0 average. Robert Clouse is a senior at Olympia High School in Olympia, WA. Gene was baptized in Warner Robins GA in 1963 by Bro. Sam Hartline. He has previously served as a deacon at the Fairborn, Ohio Church of Christ. Gene retired from the US Air Force in 1993 after 20 years service and is currently employed as a contracts manager at a defense contracting firm in Lacey WA.


David Scheibeck was born and raised in South Central Ohio and graduated from Southeastern Ross County High School. Soon after, he joined Uncle Sams Army and was stationed in Korea where he met and married his lovely wife, Jin, in 1978 on his second tour of duty in that country. Shortly after, he was baptized and became a member of the Lord's church. They have two sons, Robert and James, both of whom live in the Seattle area. They were transferred to Fort Lewis in 1992 and retired here in 1994. They placed membership at the Olympia Church of Christ in 1997 and he has served in many capacities including deacon for these years since. David is a man of many talents and is a fine class teacher and song leader. He is always available for projects that come up around the church that need doing and is a willing participant in many ministries.
