Paul Portley was born in Longview TX., and raised in Fort Worth. His wife, Rubye, was born in Marshall TX., and moved to Fort Worth in 1969 where they met. While living in Fort Worth he attended and was baptized at the age of 12 at the Stop Six Church of Christ. Rubye was converted and baptized in 1969 and they were married in 1970. Paul graduated from Dunbar High and received a degree from the Academy of Computer Technology. He entered the US Army where he served as a computer programmer and retired after serving for 22 years. He and his wife moved to Washington State where they are now serving. Paul was a Deacon for a number of years and then became an Elder at the Olympia church of Christ. They have a daughter Brittany, who is a senior in high school.
