Minister

Mark Johnson is the preacher for the Olympia church of Christ and has served in this capacity since mid-June of 2003. His previous ministry experience includes: Bible Chair director at Panhandle State University, Goodwell, OK and preaching for the Goodwell church of Christ (1985-1989); preaching for the Northside church of Christ, Cordell OK (1989-1995); and serving as the Amarillo Bible Chair Director in Amarillo, TX (1995-2003). He also served as the Chairman of the Religion Department at Amarillo College and as a deacon for the San Jacinto church of Christ. Mark has a B.S. in accounting from Montana State University, is a graduate of the Bear Valley School of Biblical Studies, a M.S. in Biblical and Related Studies from ACU and a M.Div. from ACU. Mark earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from Harding University Graduate School of Religion and his dissertation concerned “Preaching to Shape Holy People.” Mark married Annette in February of 1983 and they have three sons, Jeremiah, Daniel, and Michael. Mark enjoys spending time with his family, the mountains, photographing wildlife, listening to Dan Fogelberg and the Eagles, and cheering on the Denver Broncos and Olympia bears. His fields of interest include Pauline studies, Homiletics, and Biblical theology.

Denise

Denise Best is the congregational secretary. She communicates with the members via phone, fax and email, compiles members and church information and various other duties as outlined by the elders. When someone emails the church, Denise is the one who routes the email to the appropriate party or replies to it. She also works on various publications for the church.

John

John Bakewell is the caretaker of the building and part time song leader. He helps in many ways from his carpentry skills to making sure the building is ready for the next service.
