Our vision is to reach as many as possible with the gospel of CHRIST. To help improve their lives through the teaching of the Bible, to strive to live the Christian life and to make Heaven our eternal home.
WHAT WE DO
The Olympia Church of CHRIST supports a number of missions around the world in an effort to evangelize the world for the cause of CHRIST. We speak where the Bible speaks and worship as the New Testament teaches. We do things in bible ways and strive to please the LORD in every aspect of our lives. We use only vocal Singing, (Eph. 5:19).
We partake of the Lord's Supper every first day of the week (Acts 20:7) as the Bible teaches and the early church did. We follow only the Bible and the Teaching of CHRIST.
The Olympia church of Christ was established about July 1945 by six soldiers from Ft. Lewis who were all members of the church from their home towns. They met in homes until they could rent the Labor Hall building in Olympia. They borrowed song books from the church in Tacoma and Brother Owen Hunt preached the first sermon. After some time there, they managed to rent the basement of the local YMCA and baptized several people in the swimming pool at the Y.
All six of the soldiers who established the church in Olympia went on to be preachers save one, who was an elder in Texas. What a rich and interesting history we have and what a challenge it must have been for these men and their wives to establish the church here in Olympia. After they had left and newer members took over the duties of shepherding the church, Many more interesting things have happened and more interesting are were ahead. The current building was built in 1978 and we are still worshiping in that building.
